Indonesia (Bali) (2009)

From Saturday-Wednesday, December 12-16, 2009, Yoke Fong and I were in the mystical island of Bali, Indonesia.

I heard so much about Bali (great to be here, finally!) ~ the exoticism, the volcanoes, the paddy fields, the arts, as well as the cheap beer and huge surfing waves that attract not a few young Australians, who then would freely ride on mopeds in downtown Kuta (shirtless for men).

Also, there are many ancient Hindu temples (uniquely Balinese) (with the famous twin-structured entrance that look like two palms praying) that characterize the culture of the island. Unlike the rest of Indonesia, Bali is predominantly Hindu.

The Balinese looks like Malay people and they speak their own native Bali dialect as well as the Indonesian national language but with an accent ~ sounds a little like how Indians from Peninsular Malaysia would speak Malay.

NOTE: THIS FIVE DAYS, FOUR NIGHTS-TOUR COSTS RM1,500 PER PERSON.
