I had tried to sleep during the flight from KK-Incheon but I guess I was too excited to doze off! It was around 4am or 5am (Malaysian time) [5am or 6am Korean] and I could see on the video monitor that we were fast approaching South Korea. It was dark; most passengers were fast asleep. I peeped through the plane window and perhaps it was Japan on the far horizon as there was already a glimpse of dawn. Moreover Japan is known as the "Land of the Rising Sun". And oh, next to me was a fellow Sabahan (Chinese guy from Manggatal) ~ (found out about his identity later only when we were on land in South Korea).
Would it be the beginning of my many future travels? Or is this one of the few random travels that I would make. Certainly it was my first overseas travel since May 1993 and I am just unsure when the next one would be even though I see it as a deep passion for me to travel (especially overseas)!
It was excitement all the way, moment by moment, as if I can feel the heartbeat and pulse of the Korean peninsular!
We approached fast the southern part of the Korean peninsular and then descend slowly but surely to Incheon. I closely kept progress on the video monitor. Sun rose quickly also. And in no time we flew lower and lower and soon, behold, the view of the vast (I mean VAST!) Seoul megalopolis was in sight. Astounding! Reminded me of LA. Concrete jungle. Seemingly boundary-less! Few turns and maneuvering, and soon found our plane on the tarmac of Incheon.
The international airport (on Incheon island ~ man-made or not, I am not sure) was itself a sight to be behold! Looks a lot bigger than Sepang's KLIA. Long runway (seemed like never ending) and also seemed like there were thousands of airplanes parking at the many bays by the terminal buildings.
The captain made his landing announcement. Our plane's wings spreading low, and pressure changed and deafened the ears. And soon the screeching sound where the rubber meets the ground! Woohoo, thank God we landed... on a foreign land. It was a safe and self-discovering flight - once again!
