A game of manipulation and maneuvering.
Abdullah Ahmad Badawi knows it and is busy into it right now. Without it he can't go far in the game of politics.
I keenly saw how George W Bush played his game. His acumen is second to none. He's got divine intervention as well. I closely followed his political progression since 1999 -- that's when he first toyed with the idea of becoming US president. As time goes, he went through several personal political challenges, notably the Iraq War. George W wasn't expected to win the presidential election in 2000; many US political analysts ruled him out. But God prepared George W for the job. His team of people (during his first term) like Colin Powell, Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney (from the legacy of George Sr) were enough to see that he is meant to spearhead the US nation. Saddam had to go. 9/11 was coming. Any other team would have been incapable. (The next team could either be John McCain or Obama/Hillary.) Either ways, it would be what God wanted for US and for the world. US is a blessed nation; from its formation, the founders were Bible-believing and God-fearing people. I have no two ways about what I think of this part of US history. US is meant to lead the world; even though it may not be a perfect nation, it is the best nation it could be in this present era to be the salt and light of the world (I am talking about collectively as a whole nation) (UK had its time to lead the world as salt and light) Now, US is in danger -- like the Roman Empire and Europe -- of immorality. Are we going to see its downfall soon? Which nation would replace it? (Maybe it won't happen in my lifetime.)
Now back to Malaysia and Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
Abdullah faces attacks from inside and outside. Some within Umno like Mahathir and Razaleigh are asking for his resignation. Will Najib take over? That would be the assumption due to tradition. From the outside, Anwar Ibrahim is working hard to be the next prime minister. But my take is that he should not be too greedy. Five states under the Pakatan Rakyat and denying the BN two thirds majority are already an achivement of sorts. Do well now and increase the territory the next elections.
But again I may be wrong. Sometimes my assessment can be too conservative. I said Anwar shouldn't be too greedy. But the world is "dog eat dog" world, and especially in politics; it is super vicious, cruel and unmerciful!
God's will is nothing to them; God's sovereign will is nothing; God's specific will is nothing. The sky is the limit to them. Whatever they see is feasible, they would go for it -- I am talking about politicians.
As a conclusion, I say Najib will take over as a Malaysian tradition while Anwar would attempt to break that cycle. Najib for a short while and then Anwar will be the PM. That's the mind-boggling politics for all of us.
